IM RAUSCH II | 2021 - NOW
A unique aspect of "Im Rausch II" is the presentation of the images. Each depicted smartphone reproduces all the image files on that device, leading to a total of 292,748 images from the five exhibited phones. The images, along with frames extracted from every video file at a frequency depending on the duration of the videos, are displayed at 25 frames per second, emphasizing the dynamic and intense nature of the work.

"Im Rausch II" offers insights into how modern technologies and digital media influence artistic creation and self-perception. The volume of images reflects the drive for self-expression and the fragmentation of the self in a digital age. The photos address the boundaries between intimacy and publicity, inviting contemplation on the role of media as mediators of our perception and identity. This uncensored presentation highlights the authenticity of these moments.

Overall, "Im Rausch II" provides a deep dive into the modern tendency to document and share every aspect of life, prompting reflection on the impact of digital media on our identity and perception.

It is important to note that this work, presented as part of my diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts Nürnberg in 2021, initially violated German data protection law, specifically the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). I was not aware of this infringement at the time. Since then, I have completed training on data protection and will not exhibit this work again without first addressing the specific conditions and obtaining the consent of all depicted individuals.

Work in progress.
